What KeepMyCar does

KeepMyCar is a private log book and service history for used and high-mileage cars. You add and manage your own records; the app shows what each car needs next in plain English, and can remind you on your iPhone before a service or a document is due. Your information is stored locally on your iPhone.

Quick help

  • Add a vehicle: From the Garage, tap to add a vehicle, enter its details (make, model, year, fuel type, and optional profile fields), and complete the short history checklist. The app then builds a maintenance list for the vehicle.
  • See what your car needs: The Overview and Plan tabs show each maintenance item with a status — overdue, due soon, possibly missed, not sure yet, or up to date — and a plain-English due line such as "due in 3 weeks" or "6 months overdue".
  • Log a service: Open a vehicle, tap Log (the centre button), and choose what was done. Add the date, mileage, cost, shop or mechanic, and notes. You can log work from any mechanic, shop, dealer, or DIY job, and "Done today" closes a maintenance cycle in one tap.
  • Attach and open a receipt photo: While logging service, tap to attach a receipt photo from your Photo Library. Records with a receipt show a "tap to view" indicator that opens the photo.
  • Turn reminders on or off: KeepMyCar can remind you on your iPhone before a service or a document is due. Reminders are local to your device and optional — manage them under Settings → Maintenance reminders. Permission is requested the first time you save a service.
  • Record a drive in the log book: On the Log book tab, switch to Trips and add a drive with its distance and odometer readings, plus an optional photo such as a fuel receipt. The app works out the closing odometer from the distance you entered. You can share one trip as text or export the whole log book as a spreadsheet.
  • Keep documents with expiry dates: On the Docs tab, add a photo document — for example insurance, inspection, or registration — with an optional expiry date. When reminders are on, KeepMyCar can remind you before it runs out.
  • Set your own intervals: Open any maintenance item to set your own interval in months or miles, or add a maintenance item of your own.
  • Save shops and parts stores: Under Settings → My shops, save the mechanics and parts stores you use, with their phone numbers, and call them from the app. This is your own list — KeepMyCar does not find or recommend shops.
  • Choose miles or kilometres: Switch your distance unit under Settings → Distance unit.
  • Add or edit Next Visit Notes: On a vehicle's overview, open Next Visit Notes to add, edit, or clear a short note for your next visit.
  • Back up or export your data: Under Settings → Backup, export your service history or log book as a spreadsheet, or take a full backup file you keep yourself and can load back later.
  • Archive or delete a vehicle: Open the vehicle and tap Edit. Archive a car you sold to keep its history out of the garage, or use the delete option in the Danger zone. Deleting a vehicle removes its saved records, trips, documents, and attached photos from the app.

Important product expectations

  • Records are added by you. KeepMyCar does not import service history from dealerships or third-party vehicle-history networks.
  • There is no account and no sync. Your information stays on your iPhone.
  • Reminders are local notifications on your device, not messages from a server. They are optional, kept few and useful, and an item that is already overdue is not notified.
  • The log book is written by you. KeepMyCar does not detect drives and does not use GPS or location.
  • Saved shops and parts stores are your own list. KeepMyCar does not find, rate, or recommend shops.
  • The maintenance list is general, time- and mileage-based guidance — not a manufacturer-specific schedule. Always check your owner's manual or ask a qualified mechanic about your specific vehicle.

Privacy

KeepMyCar keeps your information on your device. Smart IT does not receive your vehicles, service records, trips, documents, notes, or photos. See our Privacy Policy at https://keepmycar.smart-it.io/privacy.
